Hei everyone!  So it finally happened. I'm not in Provo anymore. What?????? Yes. It's true. Wow what a crazy week! There are so many emotions all wrapped up in the past week.  MTC group and I got up painfully early last Monday and started the long journey to Finland! It was honestly so much fun! We arrived in Finland looking real cute after 27 hours of travel and met our mission president and his wife. They are honestly the best people, so kind and loving. I had the strongest confirmation that President Aura truly is called of God.  We spent the night at the mission home and I was way dead and emotional but since the next day was a holiday I got an extra day with my MTC district! It was such a blessing! On Wednesday I met my trainer Sister Allen and she is literally the greatest!! She is so amazing and kind and patient and has such good Finnish and she's basically perfect I just love her so much! Haha and then we got assigned to Espoo! We are opening this area. The ...

Well I made it to Finland safe and sound! Wow!  I can't even believe it! We are at the mission home now and will be tomorrow too because of the holiday. The flight was long but I got the chance to kinda serve.  I am so grateful for my loving district.  My mission president is the kindest man on the planet earth. He told me he felt prompted to ask me if he could pray for someone in my life. It was super cool.  I already love him so much. His wife is also amazing. I know I will love it here once I make it my home but I know it will also be very hard.  I love you both so much. Know I am safe and taken care of so don't worry and I'll talk to you next week. Editor's note:  Sister Karren's p-day is Tuesday so Monday is a good time for writing emails.  The address for letters and packages is: Myöhempien Aikojen Pyhien Jeesuksen Kristuksen Kirkko SISTER KATHERINE KARREN Upseerinkatu 3 C 02600 ESPOO Finland

Merry Christmas everyone!!!  Wow what an amazing week! Christmas in the MTC was definitely one to remember! On Christmas Eve we had a live nativity with all the presidencies' grandchildren and it was too cute! There were lots of tears and violence! This toddler in a camel costume went around whacking the other kids and rolling around. It was pretty hilarious! Then we got a lot of time to call family and just hangout. My district played games together and it was way fun! We played mafia and if anyone knows my family they know that is our thing!! It was a fun taste of home.  On Christmas we had Elder Christoffersen come speak to us in the morning and then we had a lot of time to again hangout and then we watched It's a Wonderful Life! It was super good and wow I have missed movies haha! Then we had dinner and I called home. Then Christmas night we had a special surprise. My district awaited eagerly wondering what it would be when we see DAVID ARCHULETA!! He came and ga...

Hyvää Joulua! (Merry Christmas)

Hey everyone!  It's been a while! Life here at the MTC has been crazy and uneventful at the same time! I got my flight plans today! Which is crazy. I don't even have my visa yet so we will see what happens. I could visa wait so that would be cool!  We started teaching people over skype who are in Finland and it has been such an adventure! Our first lady Anna was so awesome! She was so sassy! My comp accidentally asked her "why do you want to kill us today" and she laughed so hard! And apparently the elders that skyped her this week she told them "I'm glad you guys didn't accuse me of wanting to kill you!" Haha! Shes so cool! I want to meet her someday in Finland! This week we skyped the brother of an elder who was our good friend that just left for Sweden. It was so fun! He and his wife were so sweet and told us that they understood the message we were trying to send so that's good haha!  Oh yeah! I got to go on a field trip! So once up...

I can't remember how long I've been here....

(editor's note: it's been 5 weeks) Wow! What a week! There were so many ups and downs I don;t even know where to begin! On fast Sunday we had mission conference and it was hilarious.  The second guy that stood up being completely serious he literally was like "I don't want to be here but since I was called I have to be." Haha, so that set the tone for the conference! A couple of the Elders fell asleep on each other it was adorable haha! Sunday night was bittersweet because I had to say goodbye to both my Oakcrest friends who were here and my heart hurt so bad. I am going to miss them so much! But they are going to be FANTASTIC missionaries! Monday was awesome!! We got to host the senior missionaries that came in and it was so fun! We escorted them to their rooms and helped them with their bags and they were so cool! It was just such a fun time to hang with them and my district. Next up Tuesday. I'm going to be honest Tuesday was awful. I got a message from...

Happy Thanksgiving! (week 4)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! I hope everyone had an awesome day and ate some good food! Thanksgiving at the MTC was pretty awesome! It definitely hurt to be away from home but the workers here did their best to make it a special day! We had Elder Niel L Andersen come speak to us in the morning and it was so cool! He did such a great job! Then we had thanksgiving dinner at like 11 haha it was good kinda depressing because we were all missing our families but still good! Then we had another devotional about the Light the World campaign which was so cool! After that we did a service project where we made meal packages for hungry families. It was really fun and meaningful! My district was at a table and we were like the slowest table there haha we were strugglin so hard! After that we got sack dinners and got to call our families and what a huge blessing that was! I felt like I got to go home for Thanksgiving. It was amazing. After we got to watch a movie but this nice MT...

Epäjarjestelmällisyyttömättömyylessänsäkäänköhän - that is one of the longest words in Finnish

Is this week 3? I can't even remember! Hello everyone! Sisar Karren here! Yep still here. In Provo. Where I will remain for what seems like forever!   This week was awesome! We had a musical devotional! I replaced my stolen laundry, and I got to conduct a little orientation and a tour for the newbies that came in on Wednesday. It was so much fun! I love meeting all the new missionaries and getting them pumped for how fun the MTC is!  Couple funny stories this week: one day when everyone was about to explode from studying Finnish too long (that's what happens when one studies Finnish for more than an hour) we started making more lists of who we would all be in movies, TV shows, and animals. I was always the villain or a crazy person so that says a lot, haha!  And they also put my spirit animal as a hairless cat. Rude!  Then another night we all swapped name tags and acted like the person whose tag we were wearing. Elder Stitcher who had mine glared at everyon...
