Week 1 Update

Olen Myöhempien AikFojen Pyhien Jeesuksen Kristuksen Kirkon lähetyssarnaaja!!! (I am a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!)

Wow what a week! To be completely honest I don't remember much of it! First day I got here I felt completely lost! Everything was so overwhelming! They pull you in, slap a tag on your chest, then stick a dork dot on it so everyone all day forces their love on you. It's great! We taught these investigator (they were actors haha) like the first day and it was SO CRINGE!  We did it as a huge group and some people went up and tried giving this random object lesson that had nothing to do with what we were talking about.  It was hilarious!

My favorite parts so far have been class! I love my teachers! Our main one, Veli Sisko,  is soooooo awesome and chill. He doesn't take it too seriously and I love him for it.  He always reminds us the language won't come in the MTC but it will with lots of time so don't stress, try your best, and enjoy the ride! I think he was the PERFECT teacher for me! A lot of people complain that he doesn't take it seriously enough but he's so right not to stress us out!

 Oh crazy story! So the radio station MPR one of the stories is language learning so the woman who's doing the podcast thing came to our class on Tuesday because she wanted it to be about Finnish and she recorded our class all day and then did this big interview with Sister Lorenzen about how it's been learning Finnish in the MTC.  It was so crazy!!! So they are going to come back at the end of our 9 week stay to see our progress! Haha! So weird! And she knew nothing about the church either so she was really curious when we mentioned the gift of tongues and stuff. She had been on and off studying Finnish for the past couple years and we all already had better Finnish then her in one week! Crazy!! God is real!

 Anyways then Tuesday night ELDER UCHTDORF CAME!!! Every Tuesday we have devotionals and my very first one he came! It was so cool!! It was also being broadcast to all the MTCs around the world! It was an amazing experience! Anywho those were the highlights! The low points were coming to understand why Finnish is the hardest language in the world hahahaha!  ITS SO HARD!! It's  literally such bogus every single word changes in every single scenario so you have to conjugate each word really fast in your head! That's just a taste of how crazy this language is! But I truly love it with all my heart! I feel very humbled because there is NO WAY I could do this without Heavenly Father.

Well I miss home a lot (especially when they torture us by making us sing families can be together forever) but I'm pumped for my next MTC adventure! I love you all so much! Näkemiin!

GUESS WHO IS IN FINLAND!? 12/31/2019

Well I made it to Finland safe and sound! Wow!  I can't even believe it! We are at the mission home now and will be tomorrow too because of the holiday. The flight was long but I got the chance to kinda serve.  I am so grateful for my loving district.  My mission president is the kindest man on the planet earth. He told me he felt prompted to ask me if he could pray for someone in my life. It was super cool.  I already love him so much. His wife is also amazing. I know I will love it here once I make it my home but I know it will also be very hard.  I love you both so much. Know I am safe and taken care of so don't worry and I'll talk to you next week. Is this week 3? I can't even remember! Hello everyone! Sisar Karren here! Yep still here. In Provo. Where I will remain for what seems like forever!   This week was awesome! We had a musical devotional! I replaced my stolen laundry, and I got to conduct a little orientation and a tour for the newbies that came in on Wednesday. It was so much fun! I love meeting all the new missionaries and getting them pumped for how fun the MTC is!  Couple funny stories this week: one day when everyone was about to explode from studying Finnish too long (that's what happens when one studies Finnish for more than an hour) we started making more lists of who we would all be in movies, TV shows, and animals. I was always the villain or a crazy person so that says a lot, haha!  And they also put my spirit animal as a hairless cat. I can't remember how long I've been here....

(editor's note: it's been 5 weeks) Wow! What a week! There were so many ups and downs I don;t even know where to begin! On fast Sunday we had mission conference and it was hilarious.  The second guy that stood up being completely serious he literally was like "I don't want to be here but since I was called I have to be." Haha, so that set the tone for the conference! A couple of the Elders fell asleep on each other it was adorable haha! Sunday night was bittersweet because I had to say goodbye to both my Oakcrest friends who were here and my heart hurt so bad. I am going to miss them so much! But they are going to be FANTASTIC missionaries! Monday was awesome!! We got to host the senior missionaries that came in and it was so fun! We escorted them to their rooms and helped them with their bags and they were so cool! It was just such a fun time to hang with them and my district. Next up Tuesday.
